the eviction files

The favorite essay this past month has been Eviction.  It has come to pass as I knew when I wrote it that eviction was coming for many, many people who lost their jobs because of the “pandemic.”  The larger world with its plans and schemes created a trap that could not be circumvented.  Eviction is one of the deaths one encounters on one’s path through life.  Existence is a book with a number of chapters, all on a specific theme.  You have a vague idea of what your overarching theme is, if you’re lucky.  Every new chapter of your book is paid for by a death bringing an end your previous chapter.

DEATH

-XIII-

¶ Change, rebirth, renewal.  Birth of new ideas, new possibilities.  Transformation.  Destruction of the old, followed by birth of the new.

¶ Great change of lifestyle, view of self, of the world.

¶ The end of a particular phase, epoch or feeling.  The present situation is outworn, unproductive, so it will end soon.  A major change is due.  Termination of an unendurable situation.  Renewal.

¶ Psychologically letting go.  New opportunities.

¶ Sunset:  The old must die to the new.  Travel gently across the passing landscape, appreciating all that has been.

¶ Déclencher sa poignée sur la vie, transcendence.

Win or lose, makes no difference, but how one deals with the eviction challenge is consequential.  It may be that it’s time to move on and you’ve been avoiding it too long; it may be that this is the moment you have decided that enough is enough and you have drawn your line in the sand. You will fight every inch of the way; then there’s the possibility that you have come up short in life and the rolling force has come to give another harsh thrust in its attempt to finish your book.

The force that rules our life determines the outcome of your eviction, not the judge or jury.  They are bit players, along with you undoubtedly.  The game is not about winners and losers because whatever happens is the correct response to the question asked.  It may be that you get a swift kick in the pants and out you go; it could be that pompous ass of a landlord is exposed as the lawbreaker.  How to play the game?

At first notice, you become quiet, and you look at the world you’ve created and live in.  What’s going to happen?  Is this chapter over?  You make your decision about how the chapter ends and what lies beyond.  The game is settled moment to moment.  Much depends upon your honor.  If you are sincere and respect yourself, and also your opponents, you are in fact acknowledging that this is a challenge you have all signed on to.  It’s a spin of the wheel.

You must study the figures in this game.  They have all brought something to the table like a bad breath that bespeaks of an interior weakness, greed, ambition, vanity . . . use it, make it work to your advantage.  You are the lead player of this show.  What is it these people want from you, what’s their motive behind the eviction?  These are the questions you will need to ask yourself as your death unfolds.  You understand as the game evolves that whatever happens you have destroyed the life you had, cannot go back.  You have become a different person with a new agenda.  A new chapter entices.

I have written a number of essays on my eviction process which might be of help. They are listed below.
