seeking truth

Every piece of truth you acknowledge and take as your own has a price, a very steep price.  Individuals seek solace and/or redress in a world system, in cultural, societal collectives, through its justice systems.  They seek comfort in personal relationships, protection from truths they are unwilling and unable to accept, then there is the mirror that will tell you whatever you want to hear.  If you want to be attractive it will help you to achieve that goal and it will convince you and the world that you are indeed attractive.  You envision yourself as a mean son of a bitch, a bitch on wheels, the mirror will teach you how to do it.

In point of fact you’re not too sure who you are or what you believe in.  Too often you have seen yourself acquiescing to a state of affairs you are totally at odds with, and it wasn’t done purposefully, to achieve a better result.  If you take a hallucinogenic substance in earnest you will learn that everything that you call reality is false.  The author Philip K. Dick commenting on the experience, having travelled to that region sans the help of hallucinogenic remedies, had this to say about the experience, “Reality is that which, when you stop believing in it, doesn’t go away.”  The last time I ingested a hallucinatory substance was well over 10 years ago.  I was ushered into a rectangular room with floor, ceiling and walls all the same color.  It felt like being inside a box.  There were other people at a distance from me to the right.  These people were shallow, empty-headed fools.  I had to get away as fast as I could or be forever associated with them.

The falseness that one uncovers puts you in a trap in which you find yourself having to deny it or you will go mad.  You are holding up a matrix that can be pierced, but will not go away.  How to conduct oneself in such a world?  For myself I have found that the written word is my guide.  It will betray me every time I bullshit.  Artists of every media are truth seekers.  We want to see the truth as a benevolent force, but it is not; it is neutral.  In a world in which a piece of grass forcing itself up between the rocks in your stone path carrying equal weight as one’s life, one can ill afford the games one plays with the mirror.
