gardens

There is an ongoing battle with landlord about the gardens on his property.  He likes flowers, I prefer vegetables.  So we are in  court, not solely about the gardens, but a slew of other things.  Since he gets money from the government, I was able to take my case to federal court, pro se.  I like that title, pro se.  Did you know that one pro se took his case all the way to the supreme court?  Impressed!  It’s so much work, you wouldn’t believe it.  For months I have been working 10 and 12 hour days doing research, learning the applicable federal, state and common laws that apply, the relevant cases that have ruled on the matter, the learned papers in periodicals.

I’m not writing novels, poems, biographies while this is going on, has been going on for the past 3 years.  This has not felt good, as if I was doing something that is not my calling.  Then I had this dream . . . in which there are two gardens, a flower and a vegetable one.  The dream points out that both garden are nourishing in different ways.  The flowers are aesthetically pleasing and enrich us spiritually.  The vegetable garden feed us excellent food that are not available in markets.  There is also another difference, flower gardens exhibit varied patterns of colors, but vegetable gardens are usually ranked in rows.  They have order that must be maintained to produce a sizable harvest.

The dream was letting me know that order and rules are also important and I was not wasting my time and energy practicing law as opposed to creative writing.  I don’t know where I’m going with this; I’ve decided that I will go to law school if I am given a sign, otherwise, I consider myself lucky to have been in a position to have had the experience.  It’s bound to be a benefit whatever I put my attention to next.
